Contrast baths
Contrast baths produce hyperemia in feet, ankles, hands, and wrists of individuals who have a chronic inflammatory condition.
The athlete is submerged for 10 minutes in water that is between 40.6¢J and 43.3¢J. After the initial soak, the athlete is submerged for 1 minute in water that is between 15¢J and 20¢J and then is shifted to the hot water for 4 minutes, alternating temperatures for a peroid of 30 minutes.
