Exercise Physiology 譯成運動生理學，只要是運動的生理反應機轉效果都包括，如做登階運動觀察心跳或循環之類的反應，或人採坐姿，反覆臂屈伸之生理反應，或一些運動與健康生理有關之知識，不見得與運動比賽的項目扯得上關係。
Sport Physiology譯成競技運動的生理學，涵蓋的內容侷限在競技運動方面，如游泳比賽，籃球、壘球、鐵人三項等運動項目的生理反應，運動員體能與生理特徵等，或許會以競技比賽之運動項目來分章節。
